In this image i have captured the models eye, in order to show the use of eyeliner as the model had a winged effect. However due to the light set up there is a circle light reflection in the models eye, which creates a light circle over the pupil, and if i was to re-take this image i would have edited it differently in order to get rid of the ring in the eye as this takes away from the beauty element.
This image is of the models lips who is wearing a coloured matte lipstick. Again due to the lighting positioning one half of the lips were lighter due to a shadow created from the position of the lighting which was to the right of the camera. In order to overcome this i had to go onto photo shop and create a clipping mask in order to blend out the half in which i lightened. This is a lighting diagram similar to the set up of my shoot however the camera was a lot closer to the model due to the nature of the shoot, and she stood facing the camera instead of the light.
If i was to redo this shoot i would have placed the lighting in a more central position in order to remove any shadowing and off centre light rings in the eyes. I would also use a different macro lens as i struggled to zoom and focus the image due to the joint dial that was on the studio camera.

good lauren, you have a good post here but must use more photographic terminologies linked to your work, this is why we have asked you to describe how photographs were taken using aperture and shutter sped settings, if you do this you can then go on to discuss how aperture affects DOF and shutter speed affects motion blur, etc… In the above shoot you could explain the effect of lighting and why trace paper was used to create more diffuse light. You must apply the same rationale to your other shoots..
